DESCRIPTION
To renew worker SST cards, workers must complete eight hours of refresher training, in compliance with Local Law 196 and the NYC Building Code
TOPICS INCLUDE
- 4-Hour Fall Prevention and
- 4-Hour Supported Scaffold
OBJECTIVES
- Identify the types, nomenclature and definitions of a scaffold.
- List and identity the different types of fall protection needed when working on a scaffold.
- Recognize the permit requirements needed in order to comply with Chapter 33 of the Building Code.
- Describe and identify common supported scaffold hazards.
- Classify the Federal and NYC scaffold regulations.
- Apply safe work practices at their construction sites based on prudent decision- making.
- Understand Local Law 196
- Be generally familiar with terms associated with falls in construction.
- Recognize, avoid and prevent fall hazards.
- Be aware of regulatory safety requirements associated with falls, including OSHA’s Subpart M.
- Learn how to make informed decisions when working at heights.
COURSE MATERIALS
This course consists of several different components which include power point presentations, lectures, real life case studies, class discussions and hands-on demonstrations.
PREREQUISITES
Must have a valid Site Safety Training (SST)card in compliance with Local Law 196 and the NYC Building Code.
