10-Hour OSHA General Industry

DESCRIPTION

The 10-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide training to workers in non-construction related industries with a basic introduction to safety.  Training content will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.

TOPICS INCLUDE
  • Introduction to OSHA.
  • Safety and health programs.
  • Walking and working surfaces, including fall protection.
  • Egress, evacuation, fire prevention and protection.
  • Electrical, lockout/tagout.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Material handling.
  • Hazard communication.
  • Hazardous materials (flammable and combustible liquids, compressed gases).
  • Permit-required confined spaces.
  • Machine guarding.
  • Welding, cutting, and brazing.
  • Introduction to industrial hygiene.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Ergonomics.
  • Powered industrial vehicles.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards.  Students will receive a certificate of class completion and an OSHA training card within 4-6 weeks.
