10 HOUR OSHA GENERAL INDUSTRY TRAINING

ABOUT COURSE

The 10-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide training to workers in non-construction related industries with a basic introduction to safety.  Training content will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.

TOPICS:

Introduction to OSHA.
Safety and health programs.
Walking and working surfaces, including fall protection.
Egress, evacuation, fire prevention and protection.
Electrical, lockout/tagout.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Material handling.
Hazard communication.
Hazardous materials (flammable and combustible liquids, compressed gases).
Permit-required confined spaces.
Machine guarding.
Welding, cutting, and brazing.
Introduction to industrial hygiene.
Bloodborne Pathogens.
Ergonomics.
Powered industrial vehicles.

PRE-REQUISITES:

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards.  Students will receive a certificate of class completion and an OSHA training card within 4-6 weeks.
