40- Hour HAZWOPER

DESCRIPTION

The 40-Hour HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Training is a comprehensive, OSHA-compliant course designed for workers involved in hazardous waste operations, emergency response, and cleanup activities at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. This course meets the training requirements outlined in OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120.

OBJECTIVES

  • Understand OSHA’s HAZWOPER regulations and compliance requirements
  • Identify chemical and physical hazards in hazardous waste operations
  • Learn proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including Level A-D protection
  • Understand toxicology, hazard communication, and safety data sheets (SDS)
  • Practice safe decontamination procedures
  • Learn emergency response planning and spill containment techniques
  • Understand air monitoring and instrumentation
  • Perform hands-on simulations and exercises in a controlled environment

PREREQUISITES

No prior HAZWOPER training is required, but participants must be medically cleared and physically capable of wearing respiratory protection if needed.
